EagleEyes

I ran across a YouTube video showing a boy with a disability using the EagleEyes gazing system. It is for individuals with limited to no intentional muscular control, but who can control their eye movement. This system is working for some who have not been able to use other gaze systems.

Eagle Eyes is available through the Opportunity Foundation of America.

This is a very powerful video. It never ceases to amaze me how often people are referred to as the ones with the disabilities when it is more often the environments themselves that "disable" our ability to do certain things. It is especially surprising to continue to encounter this when technology has brought us to a place where adaptation possibilities are almost limitless. I feel like acceptance of the needs of people with disabilities would be much more widespread if more non-disabled people understood that often times, we just do things differently from average. I write a blog about my thoughts on inclusion and societal issues around disabilities that I would love your thoughts on. It is at www.emilytdavis.com. I look forward to reading more from you!

Cheers,
Emily
