A cool leaf blower

It's that season- leaves are rapidly falling off of trees.

As I went through fallen leaves on the sidewalk the other day, my power chair crunched and munched through them. Leaves flew from the side when I hit one spot.

A young boy passing by said "You've got a cool leaf blower!" and turned to his mother and said "We should get one of those."

Cool story, Ruth!

Completely unrelated to this post, I wanted to thank you for your post a while back about Hulu.com. I finally signed up for it tonight, and browsing through it, it looks like it's got a LOT of stuff I've been wanting to see, including the first two seasons of Babylon 5, the entire run of Firefly, and the movie Pitch Black. I might wind up suspending or cutting back my Netflix account. ;-)

Glad you liked Hulu, Edward :)

They have really added a lot of shows and movies since I posted about it - quite a lot to watch over there now!

Great story! I like it when kids have good attitudes about wheelchairs and other things that they may not see very often.

My family was out getting ice cream recently and I saw my son looking at a person in a wheelchair. I wanted to teach him that it was normal and not to gawk so we approached the man and I asked if he would possibly mind showing my son his chair and telling him how it works. I was worried it would make the man uncomfortable but he smiled and said "Sure!" we all talked the rest of the night and even enjoyed a full rainbow together... Thomas's first!

Goldie- Not everyone's the same about being approached. I do have a lot of young kids ask me questions directly LOL sometimes to the surprise of their parents. I just put up a video about a woman who wrote a great book for kids....

"Not everyone's the same about being approached."
I am sure, and understandably so. My request was quite presumptuous, although with good intentions! I was prepared for a possible no, but I figured i could at least try, instead of just saying "don't stare" without explaining anything.

Our wheelchairs are expensive leaf blowers is all I got to say, having learned from experience....

Goldie- It sounds like it was a wonderful experience. There's a language of love that bridges understanding and it is always my hope that everyone chooses to engage in that.
