This seems to be the mantra of a PBS piece about a new kind of nursing home for elder care, that attempts to do away with many of the institutional-like aspects. No doubt in my mind that we need to look at nursing home reform and alternatives to institutionalized care.
Another recent news piece about nursing home abuses is here. A night shift nurse was arrested, suspected of sexually abusing over two dozen elderly or disabled nursing home residents while working there. Some of the victims have since died.
