Power Soccer!

Here's a clip of a sport played in power chairs and it has pretty good footage of a few plays in an international match. The front of the players' chairs has a rectangular "cage" attached to them, which works to assist in hitting the ball from various angles. As you'll see, the play moves along fairly quickly and it's a pretty unforgiving sport if you aim wrong - the ball just goes out and the play is over. I'll bet it takes a lot of practice to learn to keep the ball in play!

If you'd like to play or find a match to watch, I've included a link (above) to the US Power Soccer organization. Just do it!

And congrats to the Circle City Rollers, our 2007 Division 1 National champs.....

I hope youth group leaders read your blog and take note of what a great opportunity taking your youth group to a match would be as a starting point for inclusion. Meeting the team, cheering for them and seeing disabled people having fun would be valuable experiences. I'm going to check this out for my teen group.
