New to the Blogroll: Disapedia

The mission statement for this site is: To provide all the community, information and resources any disabled individual could want or need.

Those of you who click above and go over to Disapedia will see what a great start this new site ( a la Wikipedia-style) has made. It has the potential to do a lot more.

Peter, who is the webmaster, writes:

"What makes Disapedia special? Why should anyone spend their time visiting or, more importantly, contributing to a site when there hundreds if not thousands of sites ostensibly dedicated to the same cause. The answer is control. The community controls its destiny on the website not just in name, but in actual physical control. For so long the battle for the disability community has been over the ability to gain control of their lives. Why should their communities and forums be any different?"

So go on over. Say hi. Contribute some links, some information, etc. in your areas of disability expertise. And we'll all watch it grow.

Wow. It is a nice site. Thanks for sharing this Ruth.

Any tips on how to contribute? Perhaps I need more coffee before I'm really able to think this morning. Is it as simple as clicking on "edit"? I'd like to add Steve's books to the list....

G'morning Connie! I'm doing the coffee thing too :)Yes if you hit edit in the category/subcategory you'd like to put the information in, that takes you to a "wikipedia"-type entry screen.

I'm so glad you're going to add the books. It's set up in such a way that adding things doesn't take too much time and this could be a worthwhile database....
