St. John of God, Out of love for God and sorrow for sin, you inflicted harm on yourself, because it was the only way that seemed open to you. As others counseled you in a better way, so please also entreat God to give these parents relief and wisdom, that their love and sorrow for their son might no longer lead to destruction.
