I am not the best at staying in touch with people.
Life is busy. Days, weeks months go by. And I, like others, don't reach out to friends at times.
Which is why a call from one of my friends yesterday was so poignant to me. She explained that a childhood friend of hers, whom she hadn't seen in years, recently died of cancer.
My friend rushed to the hospital to see her just in time- the day before she died. She spent three hours holding her hand, talking about childhood memories.
I'm sure that was a priceless gift for both of them.
Sometimes we don't get that when we don't stay in touch.
This year I'm making an effort to at least catch up at the holidays It is a gift we can all afford to give.
