A few years ago I wrote a series about hiring personal care assistants (or personal assistants). Each topic deals with something different- an introduction to what a personal assistant is, anecdotes about my experiences with them, dealing with backup PCA's and common misconceptions about what a personal assistant is.
I'm posting it up here in case anyone is new to this experience or may be struggling with some of the issues I wrote about. As a quadriplegic, having several PCA's is a necessary fact of life. Knowing how to go about hiring them and living with the ones you have can be more important than anything else in determining your quality of life, in my experience.
