Flag Bearer for US Paralympic Games is Goal Ball Player
Jennifer Armbruster, a five time Paralympian, has been chosen as flag bearer for the 2008 Paralympic Games, which began moments ago. Jennifer, who plays goal ball, is coached by her father, Ken Armbruster, the head coach for the US team.
Armbruster’s athletic achievements include winning the bronze medal at the 2006 IBSA World Championships, gold at the 2005 Pan American Games and silver at the 2004 Paralympic Games.
Armbruster works at the Lakeshore Foundation, an official U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Site, in Birmingham, Ala., where she serves as a recreational specialist.
Armbruster began losing her vision after high school and became active in goalball, a sport played by athletes who are blind or visually-impaired.
