A while back I posted about new software coming out by IBM to assist visually impaired computer users in dealing with video on the web.
Today new information was released indicating that this may be freely available. Moreover, the software was designed by a visually impaired person and will allow a user to use shortcuts to stop/start video on web pages, among other things. According to the article,
"The A-Browser will give blind and partially-sighted people the same control over multimedia content that sighted people have using a mouse.
IBM says it will be available later this year and hopes it will be free.

I agree. I've discovered on a number of occasions that although other types of access have been provided for, it takes longer and more prodding to get access for the visually impaired. Hopefully this can be changed through education, awareness and advocacy over time.
