OK, I'll ask it ..... what's an indulgence?? I read what you linked to, but it didn't make much sense to me, as a non Catholic.

An indulgence is a remission of the temporal punishment due to sin. That's a simple definition!

So you don't suffer the natural consequence of your sin? Is that the idea?

My view of God is that he completely forgives us of any sin, when we ask for that forgiveness, because Jesus paid our sin debt. I do believe, however, that we have to live with the consequences of our sin, and do the best we can to make amends. I also believe very strongly that "All things work together for good for those who love God" - that He will use the results of our sin for something good.
