What's with all the purple?

The other liturgical color option for Advent is "sarum blue." This is a deep dusty indigo with a bit of red in it.
That's right, this is the kind of fabulous detail you can acquire by researching customs and traditions of the Catholic church!
My pet peeve: letting those 3 kings anywhere near the manger before the Feast of Epiphany!
