Gifts and Christmas and gifts....
I absolutely hate Christmas shopping.
Luckily we live in the age of ordering things online, gift certificates and such. It's not that I don't enjoy buying things for others, but it's a distraction from everything else that's going on that I want to enjoy.
I'm sure if I was more organized and less busy I could take care of this before the season was upon us. That's one solution. But I find that the years are going by quicker as I get older. (I swear, it's true).
In any event, my favorite kind of gift to give is one that involves time. For example, I can give time off to the people who help me or I can give my time to others. Time is such a precious commodity in our lives.
I think the only way to revive my enthuasiasm for Christmas gifts is to minimize the material gifts and maximize those like giving time to people.
One mom is truly fed up with the materialism of the holidays. She had her son arrested for opening up and playing with his Christmas gift early.

I ordered all our granddaughters' gifts online, and even had them shipped to their house this year, since I have no way of knowing what's going to be going on with Daddy. Normally we go to their house for Christmas, and we get to enjoy seeing them open everything, but it doesn't look like that will happen this year.
We still haven't bought for our grandson, and I have absolutely no ideas at all. His mama hasn't been much help, either.
I've been doing most of my Christmas shopping online now for about 5 years I guess, and I love it!
Shopping online and using gift certificates work for me! Good ideas....
Since we sell online, we would like to see everybody buy online!! If you want to give anybody any kind of stuffed animal, soft doll, or vintage collectible, Ruth, we might be able to help you out with your shopping.
I pay bills online, you name it. Anything to keep from having to deal with traffic.
As for the materialism that has just about ruined Christmas, we've always tried to limit how much we spent and tried not to go overboard. That's quite a feat with grandchildren, too.
Oh, I meant to tell you that we've added a new blog to BLOG VILLAGE that you might be particularly interested in. I looked at your BlogRoll and didn't see it.
The Winged Man
He seems to be connected to the Benedictine Order in some way, and his posts are fascinating.
Good to know about your store! Also thanks for the heads up about the new blog! Take good care....
I'm reducing materialism in my house this year. My children will be donating to charities this year instead of receiving a gift from me. They're young so they'll use my cash-flow, but they'll pick the charity and it will be given in their name.
Hi my dear,
As I have no chance to shop online, I can't participate in your discussion, However, I hearty invite you to Modus Vivendi Blog. I just put there a post about how we are preparing for Christmas. You are most welcome our guests.
I would greatly appreciate your visit to my personal blogs too. Thank you.
sincerely yours
