Gallaudet University axes new president

Gallaudet University has axed its new president, the subject of much controversy.

The Board of Trustees' Statement, issued today, can be read here.

That took a lot of courage on the part of the Board of Trustees to admit their mistake and "give in" to the protest. I'm glad they did.

I agree they did the right thing. Hopefully there will be more of an emphasis on good communication in the future to avoid this kind of polarization. It's such a unique school that the stakes are very high . I find it difficult to understand why the administration and
the board did not have more of a handle on how huge the outcry was.Shouldn't they consider, due to the nature of the school, having a different type of election process for the new president? They say they did have a fair process but, clearly, it failed to meet the needs of the student body.

And evidently it wasn't just the student body that was against her, but the faculty as well!
