Notre Dame not upset this time

Tropical Storm Hanna might have upset plans at the US Open, delaying matches and such, but the Fighting Irish won their game yesterday. Although sportswriters claimed there was some good luck to it, fans are happy to see a check in the win box after last year's abysmal season.

And if you've seen the movie Rudy, you know that rubbing those gold helmets for luck is A-okay and not cheating in the least.

How can you not like a come-from-behind win of 21-13 after four turnovers? It's all about confidence building.

The coach: “The guys will come in here and everyone will talk about an ugly win. Are you happy with an ugly win? I told them, ’Yes, you’re happy with an ugly win because it’s better than an ugly loss,” he said. “I’ll take an ugly win any day of the week.

The quarterback:“We’ve come a long way since last year,” Clausen said. “We didn’t panic when we were down in the fourth quarter and we needed a score, we needed to get points on the board. We just rallied together.”

Last year, the Irish had -14 yards running through three games.

So even though they were playing an underdog, San Diego State, and even though there were offensive and defensive mistakes and a missed kick and other "stuff", you've got to put things in perspective.

Its a win. And Notre Dame and its fans are not upset.

And I'm not the only one thinking about Rudy.
