The end of Windows as we know it....

and on to Midori.

Tech analysts are predicting that Microsoft will offer Midori in lieu of Windows, which will better accommodate computer users who are more mobile. It is too soon to offer many details, but it is said it will operate more like a virtual machine.

In such virtual machines, the core of the operating system can be very small and easy to transfer to different devices. This, many believe, is the idea behind Midori - to create a lightweight portable operating system that can easily be mated to many different applications.
