37 feet of boxes: one human life

The story of Genie, the "wild child" who was so badly abused and tortured that her case gained international recognition, is being researched by a 23 year old student, who will fly to UCLA to view the 37 feet of boxes containing information about her soon.

Genie is now speechless, living in an institution, having been abandoned by people who have studied her, researched her and quasi-cared for her while funding was pouring in. Sadly, when that funding ran dry, amidst rifts among the players, Genie was sent back to foster homes and institutional care.

Hello Ruth,
I love your blog and your contributions. I need to start coming here more often. I have started an AT Blog Carnival and we are in our 3rd month. Our topic this month is synthesized speech. We have broken off of the BC service because they are not responsive to using Recapthca. We are relying on the networking of bloggers to get submissions. Your contribution/submission on this months topic would be an honor to receive. Also, any help you can give us in spreading the word so we can get some great contributions would be appreciated.
Our home base until we grow and get some other hosts is:

Thanks!
Lon

Thanks for your kind words about my blog, Lon.

I'm glad to know about the AT Blog carnival and will spread the word. I'm sure there are other bloggers (I can think of a few offhand right away) who would be interested in participating as well.

Take care.
