I must have jinxed myself writing about Candace Parker and her shoulder problems.Last night I reactivated my shoulder injury and although I didn't pop it out, it hurts and not just physically. It's discouraging after months of healing.
You know what they say about the best laid plans. I moved the place where I transfer to/from the wheelchair and charge it at night, thinking it would be less of an "injury prone" deal, but was wrong. Basically I reached, I fell forward, the assistive device I use jammed and my shoulder got the raw end of the deal.
I miss tennis and the first thing I thought was I wouldn't feel nearly this upset if I had injured my shoulder playing tennis or doing something I love. Plus I really miss my manual chair. I miss being able to use my car. I miss going to Mass.
I miss having a life basically. It's not because I am using a power chair, it's because there is no transportation for one to get to the places I need to get to keep my life going. A situation that not only I face.

Give the manual a try again as long as you're in pain. At least then you can get around. That's my two cents.

Jeff, I'm a nurse and I have to disagree. If the shoulder was re-injured by reaching, then clearly she's not up for pushing a manual chair around. Ruth - Discouraging or not, follow the medical advice. I can understand the frustration but what happened does NOT mean you're doing the wrong thing. My husband uses a power chair along with a manual chair and it's saved him from surgeries. Good luck.
Thanks for your comments. DH - I can appreciate, as a nurse, that is the advice you'd give.
Jeff- yeah I hear you.
If God is putting this cross in front of you, then you can handle it. There must be a reason why.
ohhh hug.
Totally understand. Popped out shoulders happen over here, too. And it hurts like *!@~
And I get the tennis, shoulder, hurt thing. Not dancing would be extremely upsetting.

(nursing a twingy, tweaky shoulder this am).
Thanks, everyone, for all your comments. Appreciate that you care.
WCD- thanks for the hug. yeh shoulder pain is pretty darn impressive! Hope yours feels better too.
I haven't been by your blog in awhile and am sorry to hear of your shoulder problem. You're in my prayers. I wanted to let you know how much my daughter loves the wheelchair and other medical supplies you helped us get for her last year when my husband was out of work. She's more active and doing so well. My husband found another job although it pays less but we're grateful he's working. Thank you again.
anon- so glad to hear that things are better! My pleasure to help, it made my day to hear from you, thanks.
