Thanks for this post, I am always interested in the nitty gritty as it were - it also explains certain comments people have made to me, include this week when a PT was amazed that I sat up from the lying position (though I had told her that in boxing class, when the class does leg exercises, I do sit-ups, when they do footwork, I do..situps). Because I don't have hip rotator function neurologically she had thought I didn't have trunk control - I didn't understand what she was talking about until now.

So, are there wheelchair seatbelts? And are they any good?

Yes there are different kinds of wheelchair systems to keep you in, depending on what you need. I use lap belts on my power chair and of course on the scooter which I can only use for a short time since I tire - it's harder to sit up in. (I'm much more comfortable in the power chair but can't take it anywhere - it's an "inside" chair. But trunk control plays a part that way too- causing fatigue.) Anyway, there are wheelchair harnesses that hold people in various ways - chest, laps, etc.
