I agree with the stuff about pity totally, but what I don't know, and wish you could explain or help me understand, is in a sort of "by your bootstraps" or "hard work made a life outta nothing" ideaology in the US, what is the reason other people should take more time, more effort to include us? While we may not have THAT many extra needs (after all everyone needs to go to the bathroom and go into buildings), is it the idea of "society" or "equality" which means everyone should be included?
I hope you don't mind if I don't offer any attempt at an answer here but I'm going to address that in another upcoming post ...it's a great question ....some say it's a spiritual/moral issue on the one hand, but not having inclusion really does deprive everyone of a full experience....that kind of thing can be hard to explain until one has experienced actual inclusive communities .
