Students put on a hip hop musical called Breakin' Thru 2 last week . "The nine dancers, seventh and eighth graders classified as “profoundly deaf,” relied on visual cues for their timing and felt the sound from the large bass speakers under a stage floor designed to conduct sound vibrations. This worked especially well with the heavy bass beats of hip-hop music."

Years ago, I dated a guy who was deaf who went to Fremont School for the Deaf in California. He was a football player and I attended his homecoming game and dance with him. What a great experience to see them all playing football with cues and many of them better at dancing than my own hearing peers.
Though I was an interpreter for the deaf at the time, this experience further opened my eyes to see that there are no limits... and to recognize my hearing as something I take for granted. It gave me a deeper appreciation for my Deaf friends...
