This is the inevitable result of the lack of communication with the students who are speaking up by the administration. Sad day but how proud those kids will be to say they stood up for their rights.

After reading several articles about this situation, it seems to be a split over the deaf community's position concerning ASL versus cochlear implants and deaf people using speech. The new president is for opening the college to speaking students, the students are not. Am I correct in this assessment?

Varied reasons given. I also read a number of articles and blogs about what's going on. One alumni claims that the issues that are public are a smokescreen for other issues. I also read that there are problems because students don't feel the new president represents the Deaf community and was not around Deaf and HOH people until she went to college. A professor at RIT claims it's about the selection process for president, not about the Deaf culture. I also know there are even more views out there... perhaps some people will stop by and add to this ...
