..new to me anyhow called Day by Day with Peripheral Neuropathy.
It's a great resource for those of us dealing with disabilities - a lot of great posts about dealing with practical issues, feelings and handling things spiritually. Please stop by clicking on the link above.
Today the author posts about adjusting to using a walker in public - now we all know what that feels like. I just had this conversation with four different folks in the past three weeks. Whether it's using a walker, a cane , a wheelchair - or a guide dog , it's an adjustment that affects how we feel about ourselves.
I hope we can all continue to support each other and remember that even though we have different disabilities, we all face the same issues at different times.

What a pleasant surprise to come see a post about my blog! I stopped by to see if I could track down CPCharlie to read his blog, and lo and behold here's this very nice post. I'm trying to write everything down each day while the feelings are still raw, in the hopes that others in similar situations will find me and we can help each other.
It's ironic, in a way, because my DH and I have been advocates for handicap access for years, from dealing with maneuvering my mother in a wheelchair and taking my FIL, who had Alzheimer's, to the ladies bathroom with me sometimes out of necessity. We fussed for years before we could get our church to put support bars in the bathrooms, and now I'm using them! Where there used to be a couple of steps from one wing to another, there's a ramp now, and finally, after I don't know how much lobbying, there's a large accessible bathroom on the same level as the fellowship hall. Just in time for me to take advantage of them, and thank goodness they are there!
It's amazing how what we put out there comes back to help us - I've shared on here how I raised money to help my (childhood) church build a wheelchair ramp years before I went into a wheelchair.
CPCharlie is a reader, not a blogger! However, I encourage him to blog (but he doesn't seem interested).
