Play date sessions help parents of kids with disabilities - as well as their kids...

In Illinois, play date programs have been developed which provide an opportunity for parents of children with disabilities and their kids to get together to - play. It also gives parents a chance to socialize with other adults who are raising kids with disabilities.

This sounds like a wonderful idea. Our younger daughter, who has twins, belonged to a Moms with Multiples, or something like that. They rotated play dates and everyone had a great time. I went with her a few times and saw how much fun they had, children and moms. The other siblings of the twins enjoyed it, too.

Great idea! My pre-school daughter has Down Syndrome, and sometimes I sense hesitation on the part of parents to have Christina play with their children on the playground.
Of course, the younger kids don't care, this kind of attitude is learned from their parents.
Inclusive playdates would be great for educating the parents!
